The nursery children have enjoyed joining in with a wide range of nursery rhymes, chosen from our song bag, and have been trying hard to listen out for rhyming words. We have been reading rhyming stories and, in our small groups, making silly soup with rhyming objects, for example, cat and hat, train and plane, phone and cone, star and car.

This week, we also counted and pegged 8 legs on Incy Wincy Spider so he could climb up the water spout!

The children voted for their favourite story out of two books. The book with the most votes this week was ‘This Old Man‘. The children used the pictures in the story to support them to guess the rhyming words.

The children really enjoyed our key text, ‘Marvin Gets Mad’, and we talked about how it feels to get cross and how it feels to make wrong and right choices.

They made woolly fleeces for Marvin and his friends.

The children helped Marvin to count the animals in his field, by lining them up and touching and counting aloud.

We introduced the Story, ‘ The Three Little Pigs,’ through removing puppets and props from our story bag. During Freeflow, the children chose to play with The three little pig puppets and roleplayed their own version of the story.
